Aiming to serve both patients and healthcare providers, this department will offer a broad range of patient-centric diagnostic services, including nutrition therapy for patients of cancer, chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes, and burn injuries, and also for cardiovascular & renal health. These services will be available as day-care services or through teleconsultations for remote access.
Outpatient department (OPD) services
The department will offer comprehensive nutritional assessments and individualised nutrition therapy plans for outpatients. The OPD services, including teleconsultation options, will ensure that nutritional counselling and followup care are accessible to a broader range of patients. A dedicated clinical nutrition team, including gastroenterologists, endoscopists, nutrition nurses, and dietitians, will be available throughout the week to provide comprehensive care and support for patients’ dietary & therapeutic needs.
Inpatient department (IPD) services
IPD services will be available as needed, with admissions options for self-paying patients, government health schemes (such as Swasthya Sathi and Ayushman Bharat), and private health-insurance plans. IPD support will be available for patients requiring intensive nutritional care, including total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and customised nutrition therapy formulations based on clinical needs.
Investigation services
Comprehensive laboratory support will be available 24/7, covering haematology, microbiology, pathology, and radiology for accurate diagnostics.
Operating theatre (OT) and intervention services
The department will provide enteral nutrition therapy interventions, including nasogastric & duodenal tube placements and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) procedures. A comprehensive suite of diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopic procedures will be available to aid in the palliation of cancer symptoms and nutritional support.
Research & development (R&D)
The department will conduct translational research in nutritional therapies that complement medical treatments, especially focussing on innovative strategies in enteral & parenteral nutrition for cancer patients. This research aims to refine and personalise nutrition therapies based on clinical outcomes.
Education
We will regularly offer workshops and advanced technique courses. Additionally, we will conduct continuing medical education (CME) sessions and provide guest lectures for family physicians, as well as host public symposiums to promote community awareness on maintaining oral health. The department will offer educational programmes for patients and healthcare providers on the role of nutrition in cancer prevention & management. Regular screenings and preventive programmes will target high-risk individuals, such as those with Barrett’s oesophagus, gastric intestinal metaplasia, and hereditary colorectal cancer.
